Student Life

It’s already November and the holiday season will be here before we know it! October presented some fun times for our boys and here are some of the highlights from last month…

One of our main advisory activities this month had our students participate in the inaugural CBHS Soda Challenge! The event challenged our boys (and their taste buds) to see how well they really know their different sodas when the labels on the cans couldn’t be seen! Some didn’t know their sodas as well as they thought they might…

In the first few weeks of October, our students partnered with those at SBA and St. Agnes to raise money for a local Memphis chapter of the Wings Cancer Foundation. The three schools were able present a check in the amount of $3,910 for the this great cause!

After the SBA football game, the BLC hosted our second victory dance of the year….and it was the first ever to have a CBHS student DJ! It was a lot of fun and our students said he was off the charts!

In our last advisory activity for the month of October, our boys enjoyed testing their knowledge in Halloween trivia with questions about candy, Halloween history and music!

We also had some wild characters that showed up at lunch to pass out candy to our students during lunch on Halloween! Not to mention the folks from our dining service also provided a cookie and ice cream bar to celebrate Halloween.

The BLC still has plenty of fun events planned for our students before Christmas Break arrives, not to mention the basketball season will kick off soon! So stay tuned as we look forward to hosting a student dunk contest (with goal lowered to 9 feet), dodgeball, and a Super Smash Brothers tournament…just to name a few!

We had a huge turnout for club day! Students had the opportunity to preview club offerings and sign up to join those that met their interest. If a student missed club day, it’s not too late to get involved! Click here for see the list of Clubs & Moderators.

Basketball intramurals took place most of September and concluded last week with an intramurals “All-Star” game. The kids that participated over the past month have had a great time competing and having fun with their fellow brothers!

Homecoming week is always an exciting time at CBHS. The main kick off was in advisory with teacher trivia for the students where they were challenged to identify pictures of the faculty from their youth. While homecoming tickets and homecoming shirts where in hot demand throughout the week, there was also an intramural all-star basketball game, and of course the homecoming pep rally! The BLC provided their own version of the popular family feud game show as the ladies on the homecoming court took their best shot at random survey questions the student body had been answering all week. Survey says….and what a show it was!
